The Sony Readers Touch compete Amazon Kindle
Today,Sony reader released in Australia. Six years after Sony first introduced its e-readers in the US, it is now entering the Australian marketplace with the Sony Reader Pocket Edition and the Sony Reader Touch Edition, 5-inch and 6-inch e-readers respectively.
The Sony Readers will arrive in our stores late next week, at AU$229 for the Pocket and AU$299 for the Touch.
The Sony Readers feature an infrared touchscreen, which uses infrared sensors around the edges of the E Ink display to detect your finger’s position on the screen.
The Sony Readers models also support multiple file formats, including ePub, PDF, DOC, TXT and JPG, and incorporate embedded dictionaries, stylus annotations, bookmarking, 2GB internal memory and a battery life of approximately 10,000 continuous page turns, while an aluminium chassis gives the devices a lightweight handling experience.
The Sony Readers Touch Edition includes two SD card slots, to expand the memory capacity to 32GB, and an audio player.
The The Sony Readers will be available in silver, pink or dark blue, and the Touch in red or black.
